Pee Here Please

On Monday I went into the Layton Quest Diagnostics for a drug screening for part-time employment at the Home Depot. Basically I just wanted to take a break from the human services field for a while. It's just gotten too dark; not those we serve, the staff.

Anyway, I brought with me a print out of prescribed medications signed by my pharmacist indicating I would test positive for THC due to use of Marinol. The clerks refused to take it from me indicating it would violate my HIPPA privacy rights. Nonetheless, they treated me kindly, courteously, and took extra measures to assure everything was done according to policy.

The following morning I received a phone call from a screener doctor who immediately said, "When was the last time you used marijuana?" When I tried to explain the events of yesterday she interrupted me, berated me with additional questions regarding illegal activity, and abruptly ended our call.

When I again contacted the office that afternoon I was told my sample was being sent for additional testing to determine what else was in it besides the Marinol.

Apparently they're not very concerned about my privacy rights now and they must legally own my body fluids. Nor were they concerned enough with the information I was thoughtfully willing to provide, both in written form and by returning my doctor's call when she left a voice mail offering to speak with them before they jumped the gun. I take a UA with my doctor every month due to my prescribed medications. That phone call could have greatly reduced tensions, problems, and a heepload of unprofessional behavior by just violating my privacy a little bit WITH my permission. Because when someone gives you permission its NOT a violation!

I advised all staff I spoke with, that our phone calls were being recorded. Recordings are now safely stored in the cloud and have been shared with appropriate responsible parties.

Today I advised the clinic of this in writing in a notice entitled "Comply,  Cease & Desist," and gave them the following background and advice:

I have a bachelors in communication, a masters in education, a background in law enforcement, and 15 years of experience in human services. Never before in any of these professions have I seen such abuse of privilege and power.

For the love of God and all things holy, please immediately:

Destroy my sample.

Approve or disapprove my drug test for employment with Home Depot.

Cease and desist all contact with me and any/all agencies to which you have associated and shared or planned to share my name: federal, state, foreign, domestic, terrorist or peaceful, etc. (I simply don't trust your judgement) immediately upon receipt of this statement.

Regards,

My name
My phone#
Sample #***-**-****

I'm not really sure what they'll do, but this looks like a witch hunt to me.

This is what white privilege actually looks like folks. The only problem is, even though I don't look white, by default, because there are no better options, I would bet I check the same box as this chick.

This is judgment.

This is prejudice.

This is hate.

Peace & Blessings Everyone! ✌❤✞
